Trying to use my Laptop's Mobile Broadband internet for XBox - Very frustrating

As the title says, I'm trying to connect to XBL through my laptops mobile broadband connection through ICS/Bridging but have come across a very tough obstacle. I'm using an Acer Aspire One laptop with  AT&T Mobile internet; I'm unable to Bridge the connections as the Internet Connection passes through the LAN instead of Wireless (I'm not really sure why, though) so I'm unable to bridge the connection, and connecting my XBox up to my laptop also brings up "Unidentified Network" on my Network Connections panel. I've scoured Google to find the solution for this, if any, to no avail. Could anyone perhaps point me in the right direction? I have ICS to automatically start and restart.

Hi,

Please look at one or both of these guides for help on this set-up:-

support.xbox.com/.../win-computer (Microsoft Official Guide)

www.unofficialguidetolive.co.uk/.../ics-bridging-guide (Unofficial Guide if you are still struggling)

Thanks

No, under the actual testing on the XBox, it can't even connect. It shows up as Unidentified Network on my computer when I view all my connections, such as LAN/LAN2 Wireless1/Wireless2. It shows up on LAN2 as an Unidentified Network.

I've already read both of those guides prior to posting this thread.  The problem I'm finding is the Unidentified Network as well as no Bridging option on the right-click menu. This is also a Windows 7 Starter OS. I read one post somewhere that it may not be possible on it, but I wasn't sure if there was any truth to it.

Hi there! Those kind of mobile broadband aren't really supported for Xbox LIVE, since they aren't a reliable connection. We can give it a shot though!  OK, so let me make sure I understand- you have your console wired into the laptop and when you go to run the connection test it shows "Unidentified Network" under the ethernet connection?

I'm also going to move this into the networking Forum, so that we can get the best help with it!

Arr yes you are right. Win 7 starter does not have ICS included :(

So how does your mobile internet connection to your laptop via USB? If so you will need ICS really

I read that Starter has ICS, only it's disabled. I found it in the Services tab the other day but that didn't help. I also read that creating an adhoc would possible help but when I go to turn on ICS, it says I don't have the privileges to change the setting. Is this a futile effort?
