Trying to reset the password for another account but the correct reset email address isn't there.

Ok I've been having trouble for a while with reseting the password for my xbox live account for a while now and I really want my password but every time i go to reset the password the wrong email is there. I was hacked once a while ago and I had a h**l of a time trying to get my account back. After it was all fixed i decided to add a new account reset email and make the password kinda hard. so time goes on and i forget the password and go to reset it but there isn't my new reset email just the old one that my friend had on there that he used to reset his email when the account was his. that account was deleted (the reset email) and now i have no way of getting into my account. Any way this could be fixed? my Gamertag is JJ H0G.

A couple of things might be needed here to figure this out. There is an email address associated with the xbox account (typically a Microsoft Account), and then there are the additional accounts for password reset, etc.

By the sound of it (unless I'm wrong), it looks like added an additional account for resetting the password, but didn't change the actual address associated with the xbox account (your friend's email). This is where things can get tricky, as the terms and conditions for the service does not allow for accounts to be shared. So you will probably have trouble getting the password reset on that account. Here is some helpful information:

support.xbox.com/.../change-xbox-live-account-info

If you know any of he information for your friends account, you can use this link to recover the password.

support.xbox.com/.../manage-microsoft-account

Hopefully that will help you out.

What i meant was that the email that microsoft would have to send the reset link to is an old one that is deleted and the new one that i added isn't showing up. also my friend gave his WLID to me and has a different one he uses. Basically the WLID is mine. So really the problem is either that it wont show the newer reset email or that it glitched and was never really added.

You should be able to login to that site using the email address you've associated with your Xbox account, such as @yahoo. It doesn't have to be a Microsoft email account. Your Xbox account essentially is your Microsoft Account.

Sorry about that. Looks you're in one of those tight jams. Going forward, save that link to the Microsoft Account. It'll make your life a little easier (hopefully).
