Transferring Memory From Slim to Slim

I bought an Xbox 360 Slim(250GB) and I just want to know if I can take the hard drive out of the Slim and put it in another Xbox 360 Slim and have it still work.  I have to give the Xbox back to a friend but not the memory, so I just wanted to know that if I bought a 4GB Xbox Slim and put in the 250GB hard drive everything would work the same.

Smwutches is correct, with one exception that comes to mind: if you have installed game discs to the HDD (which I definitely recommend doing, to cut down on DVD drive noise and wear & tear), you'll need to delete the disc images and re-install on the new console. Those images are tied to the console in use when the installation is done. (The game discs would still work on the new console, but you wouldn't get the benefit of having installed to HDD.)
