I want to transfer my Gamertag from my Microsoft account to my son's microsoft account. Is this even possible?

Hi Nick,
Thanks for coming to the forums. Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer things from one account to another. If you do not use the account and want him to have you can change the primary email so it is one for your son.

The only way to do this, would be to purchase a new gamertag on your account, then attempt to purchase the gamertag on your sons account.
As stated, there is no way to transfer anything between accounts.

Hi Nick!
You can use the same gamertag but you'll have to change yours.
For example: Mine (WingingFlyer75) I want to use it in my friends account so I make a quick action to change it or to add any other number (Wingingflyer76 / WingingFlyer175).
Your son's account can use the same as your's *Once you change or eliminate it from your account* or You can simply add any other nomber, letter or symbol.
Here is a quick guide to help you change the gamertags.
You can also add your son's account to your family on xbox here.

Unfortunately, you can’t transfer things between profiles and you cannot merge them either.
You could, however, add his account to the family account: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/manage-gamertag-and-profile/add-child-to-family-account-online

It is not possible to transfer account or gamertag names, but with the new system they can be called the same

well, you can but, it is anoying and expennsive, you have to change yours, then your son will be able to take the gamertag you had, and as you can noticed, you'll have to pay for it twice

as such a gamertag cannot transfer to another user in any way, the way I can recommend is that you change
