Transfer of Data from Elite to Slim

Hiyas!

So I got my new Halo Slim Xbox today (Yay me), It's all up and running but I'm having trouble transferring data from an old Elite 120GB HDD to the Slim.

My cable is official (90% certain), and the Elite HDD works fine.

I have the cable connected to the Slim, then when I connect the Elite HDD to the cable I can feel the HDD spin up but it does not start the transfer screen. Under storage in the Slim menu it shows as a USB device and only shows "Configure now" and "Customize"

What gives? :(

That's a good sign the cable isn't official. An official cable either doesn't work, or works and shows you the drive.

Try this:

Disconnect the drive from the cable and the cable from the console.

Boot the console without the cable and drive attached.

Attach the transfer cable to a rear USB port. Wait 15 seconds.

Attach the drive to the cable. Wait 30 seconds.

If the cable is genuine and the drive is good, you should see it show up in Storage as a transfer cable device.

Well... Perhaps that 10% is important. Still nothing.

Tried my old 20GB drive and same result.

I was certain it was bought as a genuine transfer cable... It has "Microsoft" engraved on one side.

I will have to go out tomorrow and buy a genuine one from Game.

I will report back to tell if buying a ****100%**** genuine one has solved my issue.

Thank you for the rapid reply. Free hugs for you!

I tested the 120GB drive on my Resident Evil V console with a from-Microsoft transfer cable (the one with both connectors) on my Halo 4 console. It worked fine. The RE5 drive popped up a transfer window after about 10 seconds. Sounds a lot like the cable..
