Transfer cable from original 360 to slim 360

I had the very first version of the xbox 360, the one with the 20gb hard drive.  The motherboard went down on it and I finally just got a new xbox 360 slim with the 250 gb hard drive.  There are a few things I'd like to know about using a transfer cable to put my old content onto my new xbox.

1.  Will my new xbox 360's data be erased when i transfer the data using a transfer cable?

2.  Do I need to use the original xbox the 20gb hard drive came with? ( I can't because the actual system doesn't work anymore [ not the red ring] )

3.  Will I be able to play my arcade games offline?  I know that if you use the online 1 time transfer method thing that you always have to be online to play your arcade games which is a pain and I don't want to deal with that.

1. No.

2. You only need the old hard drive for the transfer. The transfer will wipe the old hard drive.

2. You will need to do a license transfer in order to play your games offline. http://xbox.com/drm
