They ate my gamertag

I hadn't signed on to xbox live for quite some time.  A few months ago my windows live account got hacked and started sending emails to people so I deleted the account not thinking about the xbox live account.  Now it won't let me sign in to my gamertag and when I tried getting into it on here I had to create a whole new account.  How do I get the old gamertag back?

Hello,

Sorry to see that when deleting that your gamer tag is connected with the (WLID) and now there is no way of accessing or recovering your gamer tag on the console. you could try to: setting's, Account management, Your information, Account security, Change Microsoft account. Now when doing this type your old email and password and see if that will let you get accesses to change it to your new one. If this does not work please contact Xbox support:support.xbox.com/.../contact-us

Thank you!!

Thanks for your feedback.

1) Take your old Windows Live ID (now named the Microsoft Account addresse) to http://account.live.com/password/reset for the password reset

2) If you can't reset it, go to http://account.live.com/acsr to fill in the form there SAVE THE EMAILS SENT TO YOU

3) If that fails, contact Support at http://support.xbox.com/contact-us?xr=footnav#0:6:3  and provide them with the Console ID number from Settings | System | Console Settings | System Info (it's on the 2nd line) plus the reference number from the email sent to you in Step 2, and submit a UE Request.
