The family member could not be added to the Gold Family Pack at this time. Please try again later

I have purchased Live pack, but when i try to add my spouse to the subscription, i am shown following error message: "The family member could not be added to the Gold Family Pack at this time. Please try again later"

 

Any idea what i am missing here?

Hi there!

 

Try clearing the update cache on your xbox 360 system and then adding your partner's account. To clear the update cache follow these steps:

 

  1. Navigate to the "My xbox" slide on the dashboard.
  2. Scroll right, to the last page which is the "System Settings"
  3. Select "Memory" from the list of options.
  4. Highlight the hard drive and hit Y on your controller.
  5. Select the option to clear the cache and perform maintenance on the memory unit.
  6. Once complete try adding your partner to the Family pack.

This can also occur if there is any type of balance pending on the account you are trying to add.  A quick call to support to verify account status or logging into the account on xbox.com and checking the billing history would show if this was the situation.

Good point to make, however, logging into www.billing.microsoft.com would provide a better detailed description of an account's billing history.

Thanks for the reply. The real issue seems to be xbox live thinking that my spouse's region is different from mine. I am still trying to figure that out.

yes all accounts must be from the same region to be added to the family account and in good standing

also a region of an account cannot be changed

you can check her region at https://billing.microsoft.com
