System Update

My XBox is not connected to the internet.  When I put in my new Madden 12 game today, it automatically tried to update.  It gave me an error message and said that it could not be updated.  I was on the phone with support today for over 2 hours total trying to troubleshoot it.  I tried the disk tray trick, and I tried downloading an update with a USB drive.  The support guy finally said that my console had been tampered with.  I have never tampered or modified my console, nor would I know how.  The only thing that has ever happened to it was when I had to send it in because of the red circle it was showing.  I don't know what to do, and I hope I don't need to return my new game because I do not want to buy another console.

The status code is 335A - B800 - 0402 - C000 - 0001

The console was purchased brand new.  Like I said, the only time anyone has ever messed with it was when I sent it in to XBox for repair.  PLEASE HELP!!!

according to:

support.xbox.com/.../system-update-help

I found the error code, and it said to contact Xbox support, so that is what I would recommend.

Talax Lives I don't think you read the entire post. He/She states they were on the phone with Support for over 2 hours.

ok, well that code does come up from other searches when a person has a modified drive to play copied games (i.e. hacked drive).

XBOX support told him the same thing, so I would tend to believe that.

Assuming that's the case:

The technical way to fix the problem is to reflash the drive to official, then update.  Of course, that voids the warranty, and is also likely to get the console banned, so it is not recommended.

It looks like xbox support doesn't want to help him any further, so I'm not sure what to recommend at this point.

Anyone?  I was told by support that I would get an answer here.  Am I supposed to throw away my perfectly good xbox and return the game i just bought?
