System Link and Xbox Live Setup Question

Hey, I have a small question about the ability of combining system link with xbox live.

I would like to connect 2 separate xbox's via system link using my router (they both connect via ethernet to the router)

If both xbox's were connected to Live on separate accounts with xbox live gold, would they be able to join the same lobby (eg on halo reach) and THEN play over xbox live together in matchmaking?

My friend wanted some info before we set everything up :p

Hiya! Here's some information on connecting XBOX 360's up via System Link and it should answer all of your questions about this :D support.xbox.com/.../xbox-kb.aspx - Essentially what your saying should work. Just make sure to follow the directions in the support article.

Yeah I've looked but can't work out whether my method of connection would work. One console has a wireless adapter and the other doesn't, but one method seems to be good (using cables).

I just wondered whether we'd be able to play Xbox Live whilst connected through system link.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, though the method of connection has to be the same I believe for both XBOX's either wireless or wired.

Hi, what you are talking about isn't system links its just normal play over Xbox live but on the same router, you can play together on Xbox Live or via system link but the two are separate you can't mix them. Taking your question about system link out of it yes you can do what you want to do above BUT only certain routers will do this because you both need an Open NAT to be able to connect to each other via Xbox live.  Hopefully you already have router that is capable, you can read more on this set-up here:- www.unofficialguidetolive.co.uk/.../63-two-xboxes-using-one-router-internet-connection

No problem if you are unsure about your routers capabilities just post up the make/model of it :)
