Yes, there are certain ports the Xbox Team recommends opening. The following link will help with this : support.xbox.com/.../network-ports-used-xbox-live

Greetings Cosmic!

Before you go ahead with Static NAT, could I have you answer a few questions for us.

What is the make and model of your modem?

Visit Netgear website and make sure your router is up-to-date with the latest version of firmware.

Make sure UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is ticked enable.

Thank you!

I opened all the recommended ports and put the xbox into DMZ and NAT still was STRICT. then I read on another site that I should DISABLE UPnP - did this, rebooted the router and xbone and my NAT is now showing open.

Im on BT Homehub 3. Seems to be so much variations on getting NAT to open!
