Streaming from phone to xbox one data?

Does this use internet data?

I wouldn't think it does, but I noticed looking back over my internet usage from yesterday, it shows I used 5GB of data. I have an allowance of 80GB/month, so it is not much issue, but I could see it being one if I use this function quite often.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S4 and last night I played the movie The Hobbit(blu ray 1080p rip 4GB file size).  I had the file saved on my SD Card on my phone previously. The file was not downloaded using my internet connection. It was obtained from another source a day earlier, saved on my phone and played to my TV using xbox one.

Any insight would be great.

Thank you.

Hey Drifter,

It depends on how you are streaming the media to your console.

Traditional Play-To works on your home network, so I don't believe it should touch your Internet services. If you phone is connected to the same WiFi network as your console, then it shouldn't have to use any internet data.

If you're using some other means like Skydrive, then it would be Internet dependent.

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.

Great! Thanks for marking this as the answer.
