Speakers and/or adapters?

I'm planning on hooking my console up to a spare computer monitor and I know I need a VGA adapter of some kind; is there a specific thing I should look for?

Once I've got that done, I need to be able to hear the games, so what kinds of speakers are compatible?

Thanks!

I would recommed the official VGA cable from Microsoft. This includes the audio dongle which enables you to connect the audio cable from the VGA cable to a PC or a Monitor if it has speakers.

The monitor doesn't have speakers; that's why I asked about them separately.

For sound, the VGA cable has R/W Audio cables attached - You can pick anything that has that type of input for sound. - You can also get a convert at radio shack to change the R/W into a 1/8 female headphone jack if you want to use PC speakers or a set of headphones.

I just looked at the Microsoft VGA adapter and it's a bit pricier than I was hoping. (And apparently Best Buy doesn't stock them anymore anyway.) Sadly, the Radio Shacks in my area have all turned into glorified cell phone accessory stores and don't sell electronic components any more. What about a USB speaker set that I could plug into the back of the console?

I'm not sure about them.

But you can try on Amazon or ebay to find the VGA cable.

This is just a regular LCD computer monitor, no HDMI or anything fancy-- and there are multiple variations on the VGA adapter. Which one is the right one?

The monitor also does not have any audio jacks or speakers built in. Google is not filling me with an abundance of hope re: USB speakers. Is there some solution to this?

I can't believe I actually threw out an old CRT TV a few months ago, I could've used that. I've got this shiny new console and I can't even play it. :(

What you might want to do is get a set of turtle beaches - Solved!

But no a USB speaker system will not work with the 360 have to come off the HDMI or AV plug for sound.
