south africa region account but i live in the U.S

I WAS WONDERING CAN YOU USE A U.S XBOX LIVE GOLD CARD ON AN ACCOUNT THAT HAS THE REGION OF SOUTH AFRICA?? IF NOT HOW ABOUT MICROSOFT POINT THEN IF THAT DOESNT WORK CAN XBOX SUPPORT CHANGE THE REION FOR ME TO THE U.S

Points cards are region locked. If you have a South African account then you will need to use South African points cards on it. And no, if you do not physically live in the US you can not be 'changed' to it. Once an account is created the age nor the region can be changed, the latter is only possible if you live in the nine newly added regions, the US is not one of them.

No because all the cards have a region lock on them. So the cards would have to be the same region as you account.

  1. Xbox Live Gold cards (membership, not points) are usually not region locked and can be used on any country's profiles.
  2. You cannot migrate a profile to the U.S., nor any region other than the 9 countries added in late 2010.
  3. Don't spam the tag system as you've done... I even see one of mine in there, which has nothing to do with your questions ("gamertag spaces"). If you don't play nice in the forums, you could get invited to take a forced vacation from them (a suspension).

XboxLive Gold cards are usually not region locked.

Point cards however are.

Hey all! I think the bigger issue here is that you should always have your account region match your physical region. Not only will this prevent issues with prepaid cards, but also marketplace and billing issues later on. If we offer a region migration to your current region, please take advantage of that. If not, I'd recommend starting a new account with the proper region information. Thanks!

I wish that usually was in my case, I live in the US, & my buddy in Canada bought me a 3M Live card, & it does not work, I get the 8016a04b error code, which is the region error =*/
