Sold Xbox, being charged for new owner's purchases

Hi. I recently sold my Xbox through a private auction and the new owner is somehow using my account and charging my debit card for their purchases. Not cool. How can I stop this and resolve the problem?

Cheers.

Hello there, Sorry to hear about your incident. You will have to phone up support to get your debit card removed from that account/Xbox. The only problem you may have is he could have changed the email/password but tell them you're problem and I'm sure they will sort it out for you. As far as refund's would go I have no idea you would need to talk to your local bank about this (or an easy option you could cancel the direct debit via your bank) so the owner cannon't make purchases through your card.

Also you aren't supposed to leave personal info on devices including accounts

Accounts aren't meant to be transferred

It is always recommended that you delete all info off your console or factory restore it

I recommend opening an unauthorized access case with Xbox support

If you sold your cellphone would your friends appreciate it when they get called by the new owner?

I doubt it

You can remove the payment options on xbox.com if they kept the email and password the same.

If not, then as somebody has already said your best bet is to phone up support or use the Microsoft support chat option.

I will link you up with the thread with all the xbox support numbers.

XBL accounts are non-transferable. When you sold your console you should have removed your profile from it. In fact anytime you sell a console you should always reformat it viat he tools on it before selling it. The only content you would have to save to a flash drive or cloud would be your game saves, everything else can be re-downloaded from the Live servers.

You would need to contact Phone Support and have them start an UAI (Unauthorized Access Investigation) and they can also remove your payment instrument so long as there is not an active subscription linked to it. If there is it would be best to cancel it, then just use a PPC (pre-paid card).

Changing the password on the account will stop him from using it.

Also Changing the console default login to require password will stop him.
