Silly questions

Since my current Xbox has been deemed useless since the last update Ive decided to buy a new one. So my questions are as follows

When I recover my GT on the new console will I keep all of my achievements? Or do I need to buy a USB drive to transfer my game saves and such?

yeah, that is the best and cheap bet, as I said before you can always re download anything bought on the account for free.  so just use the flash drive for things like saves and your your account.

I appreciate your help Dave. It sucks that my game saves wont be transfered, but I looked at transfer cables and they only cost 20 bucks so I guess Ill grab one of those instead of Borderlands or Red Dead Redemption

if you recover your game tag (via your windows live ID email and password) then you will get all your achievements and game score numbers as well as any remaining live GOLD and MS points you had on the account.  you would need a transfer cable or a USB flash drive if you want to transfer over game saves (anything bought from the markeplace like games or add on stuff can be downloaded again for free as long as it is the same account that bought it).

Just buy a USB stick. A small one will only set you back a fiver or so.
