Router problem or xbox failure? Help!

Last weaks i have bad internet connection. on my xbox.

But on my laptop  (Wireless xbox too) my internet connection is just fine.

But here the weird thing. When the laptop is shutdown i have perfect connection online with my xbox.

But as soon as i turn the laptop on and makes connection to internet the xbox gets poor internet and i always have 1 bar in games.

But as i look at xbox360 dashboard to my connecntion strenght is shows 2-3 stripes always.

My router is old i know that so it could be that. Anyone a solution?

Your issue is your laptop. If your XBL connection works just fine when it is off and goes bad when you turn it on then that is the cause of your issue, not your router or XBL.

Check and make sure there are no programs accessing the internet when your laptop is on. Any program such as a P2P client will affect your connection to XBL as that uses bandwidth.

What are your connection speeds? Go to speedtest.net and run a few tests then post the results here.

run from my Laptop.

I cant shut down the programms because my sister play on the laptop. And then i play xbox.

I dont understand i never had such issues.

Your connection speeds here would be very low if you were just using them with Xbox LIVE, but because you are sharing these speeds, you will almost definitely have issues with LIVE. Can you get faster speeds from your ISP?

I never had any issues with that. It really from the last few weaks.

I think im going on wired connection would it make any difference you guess?

Probably not. Those speeds are (roughly) the speed coming into the house total. Even if you used all of that speed for just the Xbox, it would still be slow. One thing to consider is sometimes ISPs throttle speeds, that is they start providing you less and less speed to save money. Sometimes if you call them and complain, they fix it for you.

i had conact with my ISP

I renewed the contract and from saturday i get a 30mb/s connection. i hope it will work now.

check your router settings. your router may be set to prioritize your internet traffic. specifically check your Qos settings
