Router / Modem Confusion

HI

Looking at upgrading my Netgear DG834GT as i'm getting NAT issues. However not sure which router to go for (it will be microsoft compatible).

Some of the routers I've looked at, the reviewers mention that you need an additional modem and this has left me somewhat confused. I thought the router was also the modem as it's connected to the ADSL line?

Also some routers are cable only and not ADSL, is this true?

Hi, you should be able to get your NAT open on that router without having to buy another one. Have you ensured UPnP is enabled and its running the latest firmware?

I failed to mention that we're using two Xbox's, I've tried port forwarding but I still get strict on my Xbox. UPnp is enabled and latest firmware installed

Arr ok yes, two Xboxes makes a big difference. Not many modem/routers do this but the ones that do are listed here:- www.unofficialguidetolive.co.uk/.../63-two-xboxes-using-one-router-internet-connection
