Remember Zero Hour?

For those of you who attended the launch party for the Xbox 360 back in 2005, Zero Hour, I was the guy who plastered Xbox stickers all over my RV and had a tailgate party in the parking lot.  So much fun!  Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone has heard anything about a similar launch party for the next Xbox which will hopefully be released in November of 2013?

Well the next console hasn't been announced so the party probably hasn't been planned yet.

It may not have been officially announced but we know it's coming soon.  2014 at the very latest I would think.  Now that Microsoft is clearly the dominant gaming console manufacturer I'm sure the next Xbox launch will be their biggest event yet.  If they are going to have a launch party it must already be in some planning stage and I was wondering if there have been any rumors or speculation floating around the forums.

In case you've been living under a rock, Microsoft isn't exactly DOMINATING the console market. Sony is about even and Nintendo is miles ahead.

.

You'd have to be pretty out of touch to genuinely believe Microsoft is dominating anything, right now.

And to be technical, Sony has sold more units during the 6 years the PS3 has been in existence than Microsoft has in the same amount of time. Add in the 50+ million PS2 units that sold from 2006 to present and Sony has sold more consoles than everybody this generation.

Why does everyone have to be such A-holes?  Listen, I'm clearly a fan of the Xbox, and I'm posting about interest in the next MICROSOFT Console launch since I enjoyed the last one so much.  Is it a stretch for you guys to understand that I don't give a crap about Sony or Nintendo and have no interest in your rude and irrelevant comments?  I have a PS3 and a Wii and I don't use them at all since the Xbox in my opinion is clearly the dominant console in the USA.  Not a single one of my friends or family plays more often on any other console including one of my best friends who works for SOE. According to NPD the Xbox has 49% of the domestic console market share and with 2 other consoles sharing the other 51% I call that dominating.  Sony had no major exclusive releases for the PS3 this holiday season and Nintendo's Wii U launch was anticlimactic to say the least (not to mention the mediocre reviews of the system).  If you guys want to talk down the Xbox or talk about how much you like Sony or Nintendo then go post on their forums and let someone respond to my post that isn't just interested in attacking me for no reason.  Why would you think I or anyone reading this post is interested in your negative comments?  Endgamez, it's people like you, picking fights and calling people names, that made me leave the forums 7 years ago.  This was literally my first post on the forums in 7 years and right out of the gate people are calling me out of touch and attacking my comment, wtf?

Sony had no released holidays because they were delayed. This happens a lot with new IP's. something we have not seen in a very long time nor will we even until next gen. Just because Christmas happened is no reason to rush your game to meet a deadline like so many developers are told to do. What did we get on the 360 again? Yet another Halo and a Forza spinoff. Meanwhile those with PS3 consoles still have games like The Last of Us and The Last Guardian to look forward to. I guess Sony could have either made Naughty Dog rush their game to meet a deadline or told them to create just another Uncharted rehash in order to have their "Major Holiday Release" but Sony allowed them to work with their own creativity instead even if the game couldn't be out for Christmas.

Now that I think about it though, Microsoft did have a new IP. Have you seen the latest Xbox commercial? It's an infomercial marketing Kinect as a Total Gym with NFL and Olympic athletes and a Nike Fitness game. You say Nike has majority domestic marketshare yet a huge chunk of their target market is children and soccer moms still trying to lose that extra baby weight. They have very dominant marketing presence on the PBS Sprout preschool network. Now what was their last commercial that wasn't about either Halo or Kinect?

You must realize something here. These forums are not just used as a shrine to say great things about a product. There are more than a few disappointed customers who are wondering exactly what Microsoft is doing for them. Here is the problem though. Microsofts core consumer is big businesses. Not obsessed consumers. This is where companies like a apple beat them in other markets. Their target is not to sell great games to gamers. Their target is middle class families who will spend a lot of money on the marketplace and also make big money for them as well as their marketing partners when they view the advertising driven Metro dashboard. It's not too much about actual gamers anymore. I am not being rude here. Just being real.

Listen Murderstyle75, you seem like a polite and intelligent guy and I appreciate that you aren't being rude.  You're just being real, right?  What you aren't getting is that I'm not interested in or disputing anything you are discussing.  I don't care about the reasons Sony didn't release their new IP's for Xmas.  I don't care that the only new IP on the Xbox was apparently a Kinect fitness title.  I don't care how people use the forums and whether they praise or bash the Xbox.  I simply expressed my opinion that in my world the Xbox is very clearly the most dominant entertainment console at the moment and I'm looking for information about the next Xbox console and any launch party that may be occurring.  THAT'S IT!  I don't understand why everyone has to jump all over me with rude negative comments and attempts to start a debate about which console is best. I own all three consoles so I have my own opinions based on first hand experience. I'm 44 years old and have been a gamer since I was about 8 years old so I'm an original gamer and I know my stuff.  I followed Peter Moore from Sega and the Dreamcast to Microsoft and the Xbox and Xbox360, even meeting him at Zero Hour and knew from the start that he'd help make Xbox the console to beat.  I waited in line for the first Xbox which I still use, I was in the XBL Beta months before the public release (notice my GT is just "Juggler", no funky l33t speak or numbers, I could have chosen ANY GT back then!), I went to Zero Hour for the 360 launch, I have 2 WP7's, a Windows 8 PC, A Windows 7 Netbook, a WinXP Laptop, 2 Xbox360's and I'm planning on purchasing a Surface Pro as soon as it launches (not to mention owning every other gaming console that's come out in the last 3 decades). But I'm a Microsoft fanboy, proud of it, and I'm not interested in being convinced that Sony has a better game system or Xbox didn't have any new holiday IP's.  I just wanted to know if anyone has heard anything about a launch party for the next Xbox.

So having said all that, all I have left to say is......

Ok, how bout NO! NO PARTIES, NO NOTHING, NOTHING YET..... After your last post it seems that you are the donut hole acting like that. Other than that ..cool story bro.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, NUKA!

I really appreciate that you answered my question and didn't attack me for it (even if you did scream the answer at me...).  I realize my responses were a bit much but I just got frustrated when rather than answering my questions or ignoring my post, the only replies I received wanted to criticize and correct me.  I would think that if someone posts excitement or praise for the Xbox on the Xbox forums, people would jump on the bandwagon rather than pick everything apart and start arguing that Sony and the PS3 are great too.  I thought my little story about Zero Hour was kinda cool too so I also thought at least someone might give me some nerd props for it.  I certainly didn't expect so much negativity and naysaying.  I can be done now, thanks again.

P.S.  Funny,  I am actually saying to myself right now "how did I get here..."
Now that Microsoft is clearly the dominant gaming console manufacturer I'm sure the next Xbox launch will be their biggest event yet...
Juggler, don't mind the "locals". They can smell any type of praise a mile away, like blood in the water for sharks. Heaven forbid someone on Xbox.com actually says, "I like Xbox", they get attacked and called a "troll".

Things are funny like that. I had a strong felling you were going to attract a few with that statement and low and behold, it happens.

As for a Launch Party, I would attend if I could get a date and time. That's worth taking some vacation time for. Hope to see you there if (when) it happens.
