and out of the blue the game froze in a checkered style pixelated way

and then the screen went black

red ring of death apeared and flashed

thank god i am still under warranty

there is one red light ring and then the red eye of the xbox 360 S 250gb

any possible fixes?

I unplugged the power cord and all plugins and right now I am letting it cool, maybe it overheated. I bought mine 12/26/12

I don't want to have to send it in for service just yet but what I do notice while playing skyrim it did freeze up a lot

VS

my ps3 skyrim which hardly ever froze

oh and i declined the latest update because i wanted to play my game, maybe that caused it???

or maybe it was overheating??? (its on the floor on the box it came in)

thank god i only have 2 games for the xbox 360 (halo 3 and skyrim)
edit- rings are unlit
i should have not denied that latest update D:

Hi Seraphoid,

Sorry to hear about the hardware troubles. Let's see what we can do.

While a red light may indicate the need for a repair, it could just be the console and/or power supply do not have adequate ventilation.

I would suggest checking out our Console Red Light support article, and walk though those troubleshooting steps.

Let us know how that goes, or if you have anymore questions.

Thanks for your feedback.

Fixes, official or otherwise, are usually only temporary solutions and the end of your warranty is approaching fast, I'd send it off before it's too late.

You can start your warranty claim here.

You should always accept updates. Refusing them can make it so you can't save or play online.
