Rechargeable battery pack problem?

So I recently bought two rechargeable battery backs and rechargeable wires for my xbox controllers, only problem is, they don't seem to be working.
My question is: Can battery packs work with any controllers? They fit in, and look like they should work, but they're not working. The wires are working as both controllers will work with the wires plugged in, but the battery packs don't seem to be charging?

I know rechargeable packs go bad after a while but seeing as you just bought them that shouldn't be the problem. if you have your receipt see if you can exchange them for new ones.

Does that mean they can work with any controller, they don't need to be specific controllers?

Thank you.

Is there anything I've to do to sync them with the controllers or should they just work if I put them in and charge them up?

Don't have to sync battery packs, just put them in and go.  I recommend you give them a full charge before using and don't overcharged them, by that I mean don't keep them on charge when they don't need it.  Also, Microsoft battery packs seem to work better than third party ones, I have had issues where they seem to "slip" out of the controller cuz they don't fit right.

I think these might be third party. They do look a little loose, but I've tried pushing them in and pressing the "Xbox" button on the controller and they're not lighting up in anyway, and they've been charging long enough to have some charge in them.

I would return them and buy Microsoft battery packs.  I really don't think they're much more expensive.  I got a battery pack and stand alone charger for $30 I believe.

I would highly suggest the stand alone charger because I noticed issues with the Plug and Play cords and charging the battery pack while you play. I have tried it for a while and it says that they were supposedly charging while I played, but then I would undo the cable, and it would barely be above 2 bars.  These were Microsoft batteries by the way.  My biggest suggestion is to always buy Microsoft hardware because of the fact that you know it is better quality.

I recommend the charge station over the play and charge kit as well.

The kit with the wire has had many reported issues over the last year.
