I let my 12 month expire and MS charged me for 12 month even though it was unwanted, my account was then suspended. I bought a 3 month card and this exact thing happened to me.

When purchasing LIVE time via credit card it is set to auto-renew. This can be turned off by calling phone support. You will also need to contact them to settle your billing dispute.
