Random disconnects from Xbox Live

I've had a long time intermittent problem with my Xbox Live connection.  On some days, it works fine.  On others, I get frequent disconnects.  I can re-connect immediately after I lost connection.  Usually if I try and stream video it disconnects within a few seconds.  Sometimes, though, after rebooting or messing with settings it'll start working and stay connected for as long as I have the Xbox on.  Playing games online will also drop connection, but not as frequently, maybe on the order of once an hour.  While connected, there's no unusual lag or speed issues.  Netflix plays in HD just fine.

My router came with my Verizon FiOS service:

Model: MI424WR-GEN2

Firmware: 20.19.8

Hardware Version: F

Using a wired connection with a static IP currently set as the router DMZ.  I've also tried it with the built-in Xbox rules applied to the Xbox IP, with TCP 3074 and UDP 88, 3074 forwarded.

UPnP enabled.

Connection speed test: 24.57Mbps upload, 5.46Mbps download, ping 58ms

Things I have tried (and have not permanently fixed the problem):

*Re-setting Xbox network settings

*Clearing system cache

*Deleting and re-downloading my profile

*Running the Xbox live connection test; it always reports that the connection is fine.

*Rebooting the router.

*Setting XBox as router DMZ address.

*Ensured that there is no other significant network usage on my connection.

This is getting real annoying.  Seems like I've tried everything the internet has suggested.

I am having the exact same issue as Marauder, and I have tried all the same solutions and I am still getting logged of xbox.  This is new for me in the last month or so.  Any suggestions?

There doesn't seem to be any way to disable the router portion of my modem, other than what I've already done which is set all security settings to their lowest and set the DMZ address to my Xbox.  Surely, configured that way, there shouldn't be anything the modem/router would do to interfere with things.

Hey shadyxau! I'm sorry to hear about the connection drops. To help you find a solution for these could you create your own thread with the information you've provided here? That way we can help you and Moe out individually!

It would be helpful if you could also review our start here sticky and create that new post with the information requested in bold so we can jump right into troubleshooting. :)

I have tried everything suggested and continue to get constant drop outs. I have even used a different router and separate modem with no change in the result. This is getting very frustrating to the point that there is no point playing on Xbox live as it is likely to drop out during every session is annoying to both me and other players.  I do not have any issues with connection dropouts on any of my other devices such as iPad, iPhone, ps3, ps vita, pc, or 3ds. Each and every one of these devices will play online games for as long as I like without a single dropout. It is quite clear from the large amount of posts on your forums that there is a larger problem with the service than individual users and their 360 and the issues appear to stem from recent updates. If this cannot be resolved in the next 2 weeks i will be seeking a refund for my Xbox live gold subscription as I am not being provided the service I am paying for...

Marauder Moe - so sorry this thread got missed! :/ I'm assuming your network device is a router/modem in one (gateway)? If so, you might need to try temporarily disable the router portion of the gateway to allow for a proper direct connection. Unfortunately if you don't it will be very hard to determine if it's a router configuration issue.

I just posted the exactly same thing.  Internet works on the Xbox but Xbox Live is disconnected.  I've tried everything myself as well, opening port, reseting everything, cables, etc.  This is obviously a Microsoft Xbox Live service problem.  Just google it, you'll find the same problem from people from the UK, USA and Brazil.
