"A system update is required to sign in to Xbox LIVE, but the update is currently unavailable."

I haven't connected to xbox live in months, and when i had tried to, it was telling me that i had to download the latest update. When trying to download the update, it would disconnect me, saying I couldn't download it.  So i tried the USB method, and that worked fine. But now, when i try to connect to live, it tells me that the system update is required to sign in, but the update is unavailable.  Any suggestions or help anyone can offer? I used a wired connection.

Do you have connection to Xbox LIVE through your internet? It could be you don't have connection to the internet on your consol and therefore not being able to download the update.

No, there is no error code.  It just simply says that, and if it continues to happen, go to xbox.com/support for help. But I don't think it's the connection, since when i test the connection everything is good and connected.

Alright, let's try to roll the update back to the last one.  Just follow these instructions.

On your console, go to Settings hub, and then select System.

Select Storage.

On your controller, press the following button sequence:

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

It will require you to update again.  Let me know if you can or if it gives an error message.

Status codes with 8007 as the second to last block usually indicate, that the console couldn't download the Update from LIVE properly (for a lot of reasons, like slow internet connection, corrupt download, overloaded servers or whatever).

Therefore I recommend to let your PC download the update, and then copy the update to an USB drive or burning it to a CD, as your PC is more tolerant towards slow downloads.

Go to this suport page to get your System Update download and instructions how to use it.

Or simply click here. This will get you a File called "SystemUpdate_15574_USB.zip"

Make sure you have a plain, empty USB stick that is FAT formatted (not NTFS). Also, sticks with special features like encryption or stuff like that won't work. It needs to be a cheap, plain USB stick.

Double click on the ZIP file and you should see a "$Systemupdate" folder. Drag and drop that $Systemupdate folder to your USB Stick.

Safely remove the USB stick, and plug it into your console. The console should then start to update itself. Or if necessary, simply restart the console with the stick plugged in.

I'm also having the same issue. Haven't been online in 2 months, go to connect and everything runs fine but it won't download the update. I downloaded the update onto a USB and made sure that everything with the USB was correct and then downloaded it onto my Xbox. It gave me the message saying 'A system update is required to sign into Xbox live, but the update is currently unavailable.' So I did the whole left bumper right bumper X thing and it deleted it and re-downloaded the update but I'm still getting the same exact message as before and there aren't any codes.
