Or you could do a family pack if you had multiple accts and the primary account would be the only one who can make purchases with the credit card on file.

No generally the main account security is supposed to be the parent not a child and access to the main account is the responsibility of the parent you can add a passcode to prevent people from signing on your main account

Found it, I think...

There is probably no purchasing ability setting for the main member... I hadn't added separate accounts for my kids yet, but have done so now, and in xbox.com I can then indeed block purchasing for them...

As your account is set to Adult status you may not be able to adjust the purchasing ability.

I cannot find anything about purchasing abilities though...

The online safety shows me default settings for adult, teen and child. Looking at the customize part, there are settings for activity(voice/video communication), privacy (whom to share info with), Content(what can I see) and Contect (marketing)..

Nothing I can see to related to purchasing...

Does it matter I have a family pack?

Hi there.

 

You can disable purchasing abilities for an account by adjusting the "Online Activity" settings. To do this follow these steps:

 

  1. Sign into the profile and navigate to the "My xbox" slide on the dashboard.
  2. Scroll right once, to your profile tab and select it by hitting A on your controller.
  3. Scroll to the right again to "Online Safety".
  4. Choose the option to change the settings for your account.
  5. One of the options will allow you to disable purchasing abilities.
