Problems with Original Xbox Games

I recently bought 5 old xbox games and 3 of them work fine. Jade Empire and Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders. I don't know if the problems are the games compatability or the discs. The discs look fine. The Crusaders first mission worked fine, but during the 2nd one the game refuses to enter combat mode, and if I hit pause, the UI disappears. For Jade Empire the game simply won't start, I got one screen where it told me that the disc was damaged but the back of the disc is nearly spotless, but it is worth mentioning the game has a clear plastic cover on the front that has a company name/logo on it saying if the film is the removed it will damage the game. I don't see how a film being on the front of it would cause it to read badly or if removing it damages it.

Any help would be appreciated it, these were some of my favorite original games.

Tiny scratches, the kind you'd expect if you put the game into a game sleeve. My Halo 2 disk looked like someone took sandpaper to it and it played, so I expect these games should.

The scratches are probably what's causing the problem.

They are barely noticable, I had to tilt the disc many times to see the scratches on the disk.

If you have a disc that has after-market "cover" on it that reads "removing will damage the disc" then I'm betting that has something to do with it. Can you come up with a better, less tampered disc?
