Problems getting open Nat type.

I'm having some trouble getting my Nat type from strict to open. For a long time I had no trouble with my xbox connection, until one day my wireless stopped working, and I could no longer connect to live (strange as I'm using a wired connection.). My wireless is since fixed, but I still couldn't connect to live. After trying every suggestion I could find online I finally changed my xbox's network settings from auto to manual (changing only 1 digit of the xbox's IP address). Once I did this I could connect to xbox live again, however my Nat type is now strict. When I open port 3074 on my router's homepage (as I've previously done to open my Nat) I am no longer able to connect to xbox live, and the xbox suggests opening port 3074 :/ Any suggestions on how to open my Nat AND still be able to connect to live?

Router: Motorola Netopia 2247-62
ISP: Eircom

Are you opening that port for all devices, or forwarding it for certain devices? Are you able to place your Xbox in a DMZ?

I'm forwarding that port just to my xbox. I'm not sure how to place my xbox in a DMZ, but I assume I'm able.
