Possible broken network card?

For the past 2 days whenever i boot up my console i can't connect to XBL. After talking to Xbox support they told me my xbox could not find a DNS server. (http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o149/EsbenQQQ/IMG_0059.jpg).

I talked to my ISP who said everything is fine on their end.

I cleared my cache and restored network setting to factory default.

After some messing around i can connect to XBL by manually putting in a primary and secondary DNS server or switching it back to automatic. Its like its randomly picking when to accept what. Sometimes it will connect with auto settings. Sometimes it will connect with manual settings and sometimes it won't connect with either until it changes its mind all of a sudden.

After you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" and click on "More info", what is the exact message shown on screen? That my xbox can't connect to xbox live but it can to my internet. I should contact my ISP and see if nothing is blocking port 3074.

Please read my previous post as well before replying.

Its unusual to see that error on that router. All you need on that router is for your Xbox to be set to "auto" for IP and DNS and UPnP enabled on your router and that's it.

Can you set your xbox back to "auto" and power off your router, keep it off for 1min then power it up again and then Xbox (after 2mins) and try again?

There are settings you can change on your router but if its been working ok in the past I would say its related to your ISP and not your Xbox or router

That's what i thought but i contacted my ISP today who said its not their fault basically. My internet is still running when my xbox can't connect to XBL.= but my pc's have internet. That's why i think its something with the network card of the xbox itself.

As i said since 2 days ago it randomly pick when it wants to connect. Sometimes it will connect with everything auto (which i've been using for the past couple of years) and sometimes it will only connect when i put in the DNS manually,

it always fails on the same part.

It says that it can connect to the internet but not to xbox live, and i should contact my isp. Also my router or ISP might be blocking port 3074 (which is not the problem, ports are open). I'll post a picture of it next time i encounter it.

In that case your network card and Xbox are fine. Network cards don't fail like that it would fail on not detecting an ethernet cable or on ip address but not at the stage you are referring to.

I would say its more likely to be your ISP (but don't expect them to take responsibility of course ;o) )

You can prove this by taking your Xbox to a friends house on another ISP. If it works ok there you know your Xbox is fine

Generic answer as always, have you seen the number of customers experiencing this problem lately?

Should we all run to a friend to test out Xbox's or should we trust in the fact that Microsoft is maintaining their servers or whatever the issue may be but this is clearly not at our end!

Not your faulth ofcourse, you know as little as we do.
