Please help! Account, hacked gamertag changed.

Hi i'm Shane, recently i've been a victim in a horrible attack. The guy added a alt to my windows live ID and confirmed it! Then deleted mine, soon after i spent a couple of hours battling for control of the account he ran out of reset links and got locked out. But it wasn't over, before i could change the pass he change my gamertag from Games for windows. It was "Joe" that was my original gamertag, i've been here since the beta not on this account i made this in 05' or 04' as my tenure is 7 years. Now you can add Joe and see that it is on a new account (the hacker's) with now tenure. That's not right. All i am asking for is help please change m windows live id as it cannot be changed on this new xbox yet but i know the enforcement team has the authority, and my gamertag please. this profile means alot to me, and i won't stop till this guy is brought down and i am "Joe" once again.

Hello,

Sorry to hear that this happend to you!  Contact your local Xbox Phone Support the U.S. one is 1-800-4MY-XBOX and tell them you want to open a Unauthorized Access Case.  They will then lock your account and investigate the matter.  The investigations take up to 25 days and once verified it was compromised they will refund any charges not made by you on the account and give back any Xbox LIVE Gold time that you missed during the investigation.

An Unauthorized Access investigation shouldn't have worked... Unless he also had specific information from the console the tag belongs to. If the information doesn't match the account history, they'll reject. You can only get this info from physically accessing the console.

I'd wager dollars to donuts this is a social engineering hit. Explains how the thief had enough info to get a UAI started and why the OP's e-mail wasn't broken into.

"Social engineering"? Huh?  I have never seen that phrase.  It sounds like a big fancy phrase for "I got conned into telling someone my log-in info".

That's one way of doing it. There's a load of other ways of getting the info that don't require the user to be conned though. Wikipedia - en.wikipedia.org/.../Social_engineering_(security) - and Symantec - www.symantec.com/.../social-engineering-fundamentals-part-i-hacker-tactics - Explain it better than I can.

This had nothing to do with social engineering ! The hackers are using Xbox recover password page to get your email and your password! I watched a video of some guy doing it , they hacked my acct also and I never gave out my info! So to have someone say you must have giving your info to them is B.S pull up YouTube and look for Xbox live FIFA hack and you will see what I'm saying is true ! I had some idiot from Xbox tell me the same thing and I told him I never gave out any of my info, he said you must have cuz we have not been hacked! Whatever you tard!

@Bobbyzzz FIFA has nothing to do with SE'ing accounts or using a "password recover page" seeing as there is no such thing. The hacker has contacted me before asking if I wanted to sell my tag and then threatened to hack me. He SE'ed the account. He has acquired all of the information through 3rd party sources Ex: Comcast, Cell phone providers, and other companies. As stated above, call the support number @ 1-800-4-MY-XBOX and tell them that you have been hacked. Give them all of the info they need/you know and they will send it up to Tier 3 for further investigation. Best of luck!
