well MOST laptops have a VGA and some have a HDMI as well or instead but they are only made to send the laptop to a TV set as the jacks are outputs not inputs so you will almost always run into a problem trying to hook up a 360 to a laptop to use as a screen.

Eh, you could, but you'd have to be Ben Heck and grossly violate ToU.

While you may be able to use a capture card, the latency would make games unplayable.

Laptops are not usually powerful enough to do that, as they only have HDMI or VGA outputs, not inputs.

However you can use a PC monitor if it has a VGA or DVI port on it.

The vast majority of laptops only have outputs for display not inputs. So, unless you have some extremely top of the range laptop, displaying your 360 on it isn't going to be possible.

As Sonic has already stated, you can use a PC monitor with your console, if you have one.  You'll need something to output the sound to though.

If you are looking for a portable solution, there's the GAEMS G155 case. It integrated a display so all you need is a couple power outlets.

I've built a portable gaming setup out of a Gateway 17" 720p monitor (true 1280x720) and an SKB2011i case. It was about the same price, all told.
