Playing dvds in FULL SCREEN

When i play a dvd, i get the letterbox either side of the screen. Basically the picture has a black border each side. Now with the same dvd, the ps4 i just changed a setting pressing the options button.

But on Xboxone i can't seem to find the setting to make the screen full screen.

Can anyone help me please.

The 360 you had to manually change it with a on screen button,  not sure if the xbox one has this,  thanksfully the bluray player uses a app so it should be easy for them to patch it.   Right now the DVD playback on the xbox one is pretty bad for me,  i notice alot of codex issues.  Blu rays play fine.

Yeah i wish someone out there knows how to change it. I mean it's pretty annoying, specially when your watching an old comedy like "open all hours". It's terrible, people hear my plea haha,

Hey there demonicale!

The black bars on each side of the screen are just the resolution that your TV is set to. You can adjust your TV while the DVD is playing to have it stretch to fit the entire screen, if you'd like.

Let us know how that goes and if you have any questions. ^_^

I did try that, and while it did stretch the screen, it wasn't enough to make it "full screen".

Mister Cerb as demonicale said on  12-21 changing the aspect ratio on your actual tv isnt a fix for this as it just distorts the video. But clearly you guys should know about this problem by now. So how about telling us this will be fixed in the next update ors something.

I just got an update NOW to the BluRay app today, and now DVDs fill the entire screen. Try again!

I still have this problem. Infact the dvd playback on the xbox one is awful. You would think a piece of hardware like this would allow you to change the aspect ratio but theres not even a setting. Click on the camera icon and i get a red circle with a line through it. The xbox 360 had a better playback system. Even my 3 year olds hello kitty dvd player has better options. Sort it out guys !!

Any updates on this issue?  I don't typically use my xbox for DVD playback, but my DVD player has been acting up so I started using my xbox to play DVD and blu rays these black bars are annoying and I don't see any options within the app to adjust.
