Pass Code Reset + Error: Family Settings

Trying to recover my gamer tag on my XBox after recovering on other (friend's) system. Just found out that recovering to his system wasn't a good idea/the right way to do that...Well, I recently got my XBox back and in attempting to recover tag on this system, I receive the message:

Family Settings

"Can't add this account because Xbox LIVE membership creation or access to Xbox LIVE is blocked.

To change your console safety settings, go to My Xbox, Family Settings."

Great. Tried that route and I run into the next of the Herculean Tasks.

Enter Pass Code.

Now, I know it's been a while since I used this system, but I never had the pass code set in the first place on this console--last time I used this box they hadn't even moved to this type of security, so how can I know a code for something I never set? Then it asks if I want to reset. Hell yes I want to reset. I just bought Dragon Age II and I can't even play the damn thing. Then it asks me a security question...you guessed it, the answer of a question I never established as my security question. What is the name of my favorite fictional character??? That's the LAST security question I would have selected had I known the options. So, basically, either Hal has embodied himself in my Xbox and commandeered my system, or, when I recovered the gamer tag on my friend's system, something must've happened with the settings there? I don't know, really. Somebody help!

This is under family settings. My Xbox > Family settings > Account creation. have you tried entering combos like X,X,X,X? or triggers? If none of those work, you may want to contact phone support.

Unfortunately if you don't know the pass code, or the pass code reset question then you'll need to contact XBOX Support in order to get further assistance with this. Usually being able to delete and then recover the profile takes away the pass code in general but I wouldn't recommend doing this as it's already told you that the settings are set to not allow anyone to make new accounts on the console. So your best bet is to call XBOX Support for your particular region.

"New old XBOX system" doesn't quite make sense. If the system is used then you will need to contact XBOX Support if it has a family settings passcode.

If you need the console passcode reset, you'll require a special 4 digit code that only xbox hardware support can provide. They'll give you the full ten digit code to reset the console passcode. The profile passcode can only be reset by deleting the profile (profile only NOT items) and redownloading it.

Hey there BlueWolf46! For help it's often best to start your own thread so we can provide you individual support. Just a note for the future!

Since this issue is pretty cut and dry, I'll let you know the steps to take here rather than having you create a new thread! :) There are two things you can do here. First, you can contact phone support who can assist with resetting your pass code. Or you can attempt to reset your console to factory defaults by using the following steps:

1. From the dashboard scroll to the "System" tab.

2. Click "Console Settings".

3. Select "System Info".

4. When the system info box comes up type in this sequence:

LT RT X Y LB RB Y "Left Stick in" (press it in) Y Y

5. You'll be asked "Would you like to reset the console to the factory defaults?", select "Reset"

*Note this will remove any current settings you have!
