Overheating?

I own an Xbox 360 S, got at christmas meaning it is only 10 months old. Everything was going fine until sometime last week when it decided to cut out mid-game for no apparent reason. This has continued since. It will sometimes run for hours with no problems and other times it will last less than an hour. There are no rings, the dot in the middle does not go red, but the light on the power supply does and it is usually very hot. Is it just a case of buying a new power supply or is there some way to just cool the box down? Not seemingly a major problem but a major annoyance. Thanks in advance for any reasonable replies.

Hey OP, it sounds like the issue here is definitely with the PSU. A little-know fact is that not only does the console need to breath, but the PSU does as well. Is the PSU in an open, well-ventilated area? If it is, then the device may just be failing. Before calling phone support about a replacement, I suggest borrowing a friend's PSU to see if that works without issue on your console.
