Original X-box Tech question? Please help me out

I went to play one of my fav. games Baldur's Gate "Dark Alliance" on my Original x-box and my console wouldn't recognize the disk I have played this game disk on this console before but not for a long time so I cleaned the disk still nothing so I tried 5 other games all loaded fine. I then tried to play on my brothers console same thing wouldn't recognize the disk so just to see what would happen I tried our x-box 360 console and the game loaded just fine. I would really like to play it on my old console seeing as I have already finished the game and unlocked Drizzt Do'Urden I like the game but do not really wish to have to play through the whole story line again twice just to have access to Drizzt again.

So to my question can anyone tell me what would cause a disk to be unreadable to more than one Original x-box console but work fine in a 360 ? and yes it is an original game disk that has worked in the past

TY for any and all replies
