Old XBox 360 replacing with new 360 S - copy to USB

Good morning.

I thought I read thoroughly before commencing this task.  We purchased a new 360 for our son.  With the many game saves, downloads, licenses and profile, I wanted to make sure we at the very least backed up as much as we could from the old 360.  (Also wants a gamertag change).

I was able to begin the copying process from HDD to USB.  Near the very end, I got a message about not everything copied over and I believe it was the fact that I had an 8GB usb thumb drive and there was more data on the HDD.  Regardless, we were walking out the door at the time for New Years Eve dinner.

When we got home, the TV is showing the Transfer screen spinning (grey looking) of course saying do not shut off controller until complete.  Well I know it has completed - but how the heck can I get back to the dashboard safely to use a larger USB stick?

Thank you

Go ahead and turn off your Xbox.

You might just want to buy a Transfer Cable.

You can buy a transfer cable here: http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/xbox-360-hard-drive-transfer-cable/78160
