Not what I agreed to on the phone

So today I rang up xbox live to cancel my auto renewal for 12 month subscription. I said it was too expensive for me to afford, at which point the operator said he could offer me 40% off the price. I could afford this, so I agreed, but since checking my account I have discovered I have been put on a 35 pounds for 12 months plan. This was not what I agreed to pay for. Also, i am sure my previous subscription was not going to run out for around a month, or maybe more, yet my new subscription has begun already, or so it seems from the date on my xbox account. My reference number for the earlier call was 1156373077 (and the handlers name was Dylan) I am 99% sure he said 40 percent off, So what can I do now? I am not willing to pay that much, and I'm not yet sure whether my card has been debited or not.

agents cannot offer discounts

this is only done on the dashboard on promotions

i think you mistaken what he said

the yearly compared to the the monthly membership  yes 59.95 a year vs 10bucks a month for 12months = 120bucks

i think thats where you got mixed up

you can however call xbox support and talk to billing

Okay, but also why did my new 12 month subscription start straight away, i had a while to go on my old one I'm sure. I can't find any trace of my old 12 month one in my billing history anywhere. It definitely did exist.

the new membership doesn't apply till the old one is expired

(since it was a 12month plan then your probably on that plan ) your expiry date will be updated

as stated earlier call billing for any billing related questions

you can check https://billing.microsoft.com

the membership should state the purchase of the new membership

but the expiry date should reflect the change

I have 2  1month for 1 pound deals, then just my current 12 month that started on the date I rang them up. I should have checked when my old one expired, but i didn't. There is a chance I rang up on the exact date of expiry, but I doubt that.

And the fact all history of the other one has vanished makes me dubious.

Maybe time to give them a ring
