Not really signing in properly.....

Hi guys,
Wondering if someone can help me with this.

My xbox is not modded, I only have 1 profile on my xbox as well. It's connected to my network via wifi on the built in adapter. (xbox slim). I've re-tested the connection settings at each stage and it appears to be fine on all the tests.

When I have auto-sign in turned on, my xbox doesn't really connect to live properly. I can't receive messages, or join party chats, or play games online (it will tell me I need to sign in, even though the xbox tells me i'm signed in) but I can use the rest of the xbox fine. I need to log out of my profile and back in to get it working properly.

It used to work fine, I think this problem occurred after an XBL update, but i'm not sure.

I've tried the below already:
-Power Cycle router.
-Checked that automatic sign in is turned on. (Also turned it off, and restarted xbox and turned it on again)
-Tried deleting HDD cache.
-Putting in manual network settings rather than auto.
-deleted my profile and re-downloaded it to the xbox

Any help would be appreciated!

Hey there Secro!
Could you verify if you can connect properly, making a direct connection to your modem with an Ethernet cable.

Microsoft are currently investigating an issue with Notifications. If your problem is related to this, be patience while they are working to sort it out.

Post back and let us know how it goes.

Alright, I tried using using an ethernet cable and had the same result.

When I log in I get the notification that I have logged in to Xbox Live.

I have to sign out and back in before I can access "beacons and activity", "messages" etc.

Anyone have any other ideas? I don't really believe it's related to my modem/router.

Do you have another gamertag you can try this with to see if maybe there is some sort of issue with it?

If not, have you attempted to remove your hard drive and used a USB Flash Drive to try and see if that worked with you connecting to LIVE properly without having to logout and log back in?

Did you set up the modem/router with a powersaving mode? Maybe the modem/router disconnects from the internet if no device is using it for a few minutes, and when you turn on the Xbox, the router is in the process of signing into your Internet Provider, while telling the Xbox "Yeah man, I know you want the internet! Chill! I'm working on it. Here have this local IP for now and pretend you have internet already! Sheesh!"

Hi guys,

I don't have another gamertag, I would rather not create another one, I have enough accounts strewn across the internet as it is :P

I'm not sure I can take the HDD out of my xbox... it's one of the newer ones with a 250GB inside of it. If it's possible to take out I could give it a try I suppose.

No power saving on this router. I have stuff constantly using it fine, 2 smart phones, a PC, 2 macbook pro, a PS3. It would never get a chance to sleep even if it did have a sleep mode lol :P

The internet is def. coming through to my xbox, as I have the advertising in my face, even my friends that are online show up as soon as it turns on.

I have to sign out and back in again if I want to send them a message though!

You can take the hard drive out of the XBOX 360 S, instructions on how to do that easily can be found here.

Try to use a USB Flash Drive it can be any size (1GB or larger). Once the USB Flash Drive is configured, try to download your profile onto it and see if you are able to sign in without having to sign out and sign in again. Instructions on how to configure a USB Flash Drive can be found here.

Let us know once you are able to try this step and this will sort of narrow down what's going on here.
