new account doesn't work

I just signed up my new account and password. on the internet. However when I try to go and sign in , I keep getting a message that says, another gamertag is already associated with this email address. How do I resolve this. I'm annoyed!

Hi there.

 

Ok so you created the account on xbox.com, so the account you're posting on the forums with, is that it? All you may need to do is recover the account onto your xbox 360 console. If you need help doing so, follow these steps:

 

  1. Power on your xbox 360 console.
  2. Hit the guide button on your controller.
  3. Select the third option down being "Recover Gamertag".
  4. Enter the Gamertag, followed by the Windows Live ID and password associated to it.
  5. Your profile should then start to download to the console.

 

Once complete simply sign in and away you go!

 

On a side note - Please be aware that the profile you're currently using for the xbox.com forums is only a Silver member. This means that you will only have limited access to online content, if you wish to unlock the full package from LIVE then you will need to purchase a Gold membership.

It sounds like you were clicking on the "Create" option instead of "Recover". The above steps should help you out!
