need help connecting

hey guys as some of you may know there was problems with redeeming codes for microsoft points and gold membership i was having trouble with redeeming a code found out it was some problem on xbox lives end but ever since that problem has been fixed (this morning) i have not been able to reconnect to xbox live saying to restart my modem for 30 seconds have done that about 500 times now i only just redeemed my code for 4 months xbox gold membership today on xbox.com and now my xbox will not connect to xbox live can anyone help :S? just wasted a good $80 for this not to work

Proceed by doing the fallowing steps. This xbox feature will help you solve where you are having problems connecting to.

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller (Xbox button in the center of your controller).
  2. Go to Settings, and then select System Settings.
  3. Select Network Settings.
  4. Select Wired Network if you are prompted to do so
  5. Select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.
  6. Select Yes if you are prompted to update your console software.

Hey PoD Gh0st! Can you provide us the codes you receive when you test your Xbox LIVE connection as CRUSHER has suggested? Can you also provide the other information listed in our start here sticky (forums.xbox.com/.../155724.aspx)? This will allow us to get a better look at your current network set up. :)
