NAT Strict - HELP please

Hello,

This is the first time I have encountered any problem like this and I have had xbox for 8 years, only seems to be on the Xbox one.

I use the Virgin Media SuperHub 2 Modem/Router.
Have 2 xbox ones connected up - one uses a wire connected directly from the SuperHub to the xbox the other is Wireless.

We go to settings and it says strict - we have done everything that has been wrote before like holding all triggers then making it say open when you go back - that works for about 10 mins at most then goes strict again and boots us out of any game that we are playing online saying that we need an internet connection to play.

We have also  port forwarded all ports that have been listed and still have a problem.

What else can I do? it keeps going from strict to open back to strict again.

Thanks for any help.

Also It seems to be the wireless console that disconnects a lot more and earlier than the wired console

Greetings Brxdie!

Could I have you try the following steps and let us know if your console's can connect with an Open NAT, simultaneously.

On both console's, browse to Network and select Advanced settings. Make sure IP and DNS settings are set to Automatic. Select Alternate MAC address and select clear. Power off both console's.

Access your SH2's web-utility interface and disable the following features: DMZ, Port Forwarding, Port triggering, UPnP. Select Reboot Device/Reset Device (under Device Management) and select Reboot Device. Wait until the SH2 has completely booted up. Access the SH2 and enable UPnP. Untick Firewall and make sure IPsec Pass-Through is ticked enable. Select Reboot Device and wait for it to connect properly.

Start your console(s) and run a diagnostic test to Xbox LIVE and tell us which NAT behavior you see.

Thank you!

Hello,

after following what you said the wired xbox has an Open NAT

the wireless has a Strict NAT.

if our xboxs cannot connect simultaneously then how do we go about fixing this issue?

Would making both xboxs wired fix the issue or is it a mess up on microsofts end?

Thanks

Are both console's set to energy-saving power mode?

Are both console's network settings set to obtain IP and DNS automatic?

If its possible, try connect the failing console with an Ethernet cable instead of wireless and let us know how that goes and we'll go from there.

@Brxdie -  It's a complete mess.  Much like yourself I've had an open NAT with the 360 for nigh on 8 years.  I've had various other consoles and played PC games and never had a problem with my NAT.  Further more, if you place your device into the DMZ then all incoming and outgoing traffic is allowed to pass through unhindered.  Yet Microsoft will tell you to do all this rubbish only to end up with the same problem.

The console is, unfortunately, a complete mess.  There's so many things that annoy me about it, coupled with this stupid NAT issue it's really starting to make me feel like I've made a terrible mistake buying it.   And another thing, I've not been able to sign into my profile here on the forums for months.  I keep getting an error code and so have to use this alternate profile to post instead.  Having contacted Microsoft they couldn't understand why this would be the case, but even if I sign in on another device I still get an error code.

A simple solution that would fix these NAT problems for most people would to update the xbox one so that it no longer needs port 3074.

It's because of the stupid decision to use the same UDP ports for xbox 1  as they they do xbox 360 that so many people who also own a 360 have NAT issues.

Most routers can't handle 2 Xboxes at the same time with an open NAT due to the fact that both devices use port 3074.

The xbox that uses the wired connection doesnt seem to drop its only wireless it seems (for now anyway)

We have had both consoles on energy saving mode but makes no difference if the NAT is on Open it wont be on for long it goes to Strict pretty fast on the wireless connection.

Would 2 wires from the Superhub 2 to both consoles make this problem disappear?

Is this Virgin Medias problem? or is it Microsoft and xbox problem?

Thanks
