NAT Problems

I been having troubles with my NAT type with a static IP address and I don't know why. Sometimes it's open and sometimes it goes to moderate? I can't figure out why it keeps changing to moderate. IP address is also in the DMZ and UPnP is also turned off

Hi,

Please read:- forums.xbox.com/.../811997.aspx

And post back your details in full (the bits that are in bold on that post) so that people may help

If you are wireless can you also state whether you are using the white or black external adapter or the Xbox 360S Internal adapter

If you are using a static ip address and a DMZ with no portforwarding or UPnP it shouldn't change to be honest

Thanks

Do you have a specific NAT type setting on your router? If so, try changing it to "open." Also, make sure your router is protected with a password.

I have a NAT Setting on my router but it is set to on? When I have it on automatic my NAT type stays open. I don't know why DMZ won't keep my NAT type open.

Hello,

Any specific reason why you are using a DMZ in your router ? If not just turn it off and leave you NAT setting on auto.

Cheers.

As colobus say have you tried without a DMZ? If you have to use a DMZ can I ask what ip address you have assigned to your Xbox?

Yes, I tried it with the UPnP and it works fine but in DMZ it changes to moderate sometimes. I am using 192.168.0.250 as my IP Address. It's within my starting and end IP addresses

Ok well it should really be outside of that range, if your range goes right to the top (254) make your range smaller and put your Xbox outside the DHCP range

If UPnP works ok tho you could always use that instead, up to you

All right I can try that. I am also trying out a wireless extender too because I'm not getting exactly full bar usually around 3 bars but I was wondering if a wireless extender is bad to use for xbox live?

I don't really rate wireless extenders to be honest, I don't think they are bad I just don't think they are that good usually :) homeplugs/powerline adapters are better for hard to reach places where wireless won't get to
