My xbox wont let me transfer to 120gb HDD

i bought an xbox 120gb hard drive and i bought a transfer cable of ebay. both hard drives are the old shape i bought it because my 60gb HDD started to fill up. When i plug in the transfer kit to the 120gb no message appeares but i go in to storage and hit transfer data to 120gb when it tells me to format the hard drive then an error message comes up telling me it cannot be compeletly formated and says that their is only 15.9gb free.

No Microsoft brand Transfer Cable ask you to format the HDD. You must of got a Third Party Transfer Cable off Ebay which will mostly ask you to format the HDD. But since you formatted the HDD there is no way around this =/ Sorry Kaner but it's gone now...

Was the data transfer cable you purchased the official Microsoft data tranfer cable?

If not then I'm afraid the hard drive that was formatted during the process will never work as an Xbox hard drive again, only as an external storage device.

Your best bet is to try and find a retail 250GB drive. The 120GB drive has been discontinued for some time. There should still be some 250GB drives around. Avoid "third party" or "OEM" drives. There are no authorized third party drives for the 360.

Given the price hikes due to flooding in Thailand, even the list price of $129.99 for a 250GB HDD is reasonable compared to bare drive pricing.
