my xbox live is giving conflicting memberships

i just upgraded to gold on the website on my laptop, as i have not been on for a while and my membership lapsed.

it says online my account is gold, and when i go into "my memberships" in the "account Managment" section of my xbox dashboard it says gold member.

however, on the dashboard itself, under my xbox, it says i am xbox live free.

i have tried playing COD online to kick start the change but it says i am not allowed.

so i have paid for gold, it says on my account i am gold, but my dashboard says i am free, so i can only access the free stuff.

i have turned it off and on again, and nothing.

do i just have to wait or will it stay like this unless i call someone.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is a slight delay between the site and on the Xbox.

You can try to test your connection to XBox LIVE, as this speeds it up or you can recover your gamertag.

You could try deleting your profile (profile only, not the content) and recovering your gamertag.  Go to system settings > Memory > Select the appropriate storage device > Gamer Profile
