my xbox live disconnects when i put a game in.

About a week ago my Xbox Live started disconnecting every time I start up MW3  it disconnects from Xbox Live without notifying me then when I try to connect when the games is in it says  "Your connection to Xbox Live has been lost. Please sign in again." and there an option to test connection, as soon as it leaves the game to test it it starts working again, at first it was just MW3 that didn't work, when I downloaded the last patch for mw3 it started happening so I assumed it was because of the patch and I started playing black ops then 3 days later black ops stopped connecting as soon as i put it in along with all my other games so I don't know anymore, I've gone through every Xbox guide, turned off and unpluged every part of my of my set up, reset to factory defaults and searched all the other forums, please someone help me here because at the moment I'm paying for something Icant use.

You say you have followed alot of steps to prevent this including resetting stuff, was one of these a reset of your modem and router?

The proper way to do this would be unplug both of them for atleast 15 seconds

Plug the modem back in and wait for it to fully boot up, all lights should be indicated except the Link light

Plug the router back in and wait for it to boot up.

Using a PC or laptop access your router using a web browser (Example: 192.168.1.1 is default for most Linksys)

Make sure Upnp is set to "Enabled" if your router supports it.

Turn on wifi security so others can't use your wifi freely.

Note: If your router does NOT support Upnp (universal plug and play), then you will need to open ports manually.

Check support.xbox.com/.../network-ports-used-xbox-live for a list of ports that need to be open and how to do open them.

If your router does support upnp you won't need to do this as the router will open the ports as needed.

Also on your Xbox Home screen go to Settings -> System Settings -> Network Settings.

From there select the type you use "Wired" or "Wireless"

Select "Configure Network" and go to "Additional Settings"

From there select "Restore to Factory Defaults"

Go back to the Home screen and power down the console, wait until it's fully powered down and turn it back on.

Once it's on go back to "Network Settings" and select "Test Xbox Live Connection".

I have also started to recieve this issue, connectivity is not the problem it is purely when starting the game (MW3 for me as well). It is more than likely related to something in the game although I also am not seeing details of my account on this Xbox site which may or may not be related?

Certainly has nothing to do with connectivity though as my setup has been working for a long while now.

Me too dude, except it does the same with modern warfare 2, modern warfare 3, and even battlefield 3.  It ticks me off because you pay for this service and YOU CAN'T EVEN USE IT. I can't even watch Netflix, or Zune Video because it kicks me off of Xbox Live as soon as I try to use the application.  Unbelievable, Microsoft being as big as they are, they'd fix this asap!

Yeah i cant see my details either for me the game is dead island and ufc 3 i havent played mw3 in a month or so.

This is happening to me as well. I can use apps, just cant go on live. I have also reset Everything.

I think this is a community problem. I came onto here to make sure I wasn't the only one with issues. I also can't see any of my account information on this site and it's not letting me use any live features including games and Netflix. :'( Sad face!!
