And my IP adress has 169 at the begining of it but im still putting in the right password even my brothers xbox works with that password and works and his xbox works fine with an external adapter beacause mine is the new 250 gb hardrive with intertnal adapter. That's the issue then, please change to using WPA2-PSK(AES) if you can, ensure all wireless devices can support that setting and they will also need to re find the router after that change and enter the new passphrase.

Make sure you do that change when you are wired to the router on a PC not wireless

I've got the same problem and I'm using WPA. Not sure if I'm AES or TKIP though, but how do I change it to WPA2-PSK(AES)?

Hi.. I have the same problem, cannot get the IP Address. The fact is that until last week, with the same settings, same router, same xbox, nothing different from today, the connection was working!
