My Xbox can't see my Westell 7500

Hey there people.

I just got a Westell 7500 and have my 360 hardlined to it. But the Xbox doesn't see the 7500 and the modem can't see the Xbox. There's simply nothing. I have 3 available ports and no matter which one I plug the Xbox into, it doesn't light up. It doesn't know it's there.

The Xbox can't even test the connection because it doesn't know it's connected. I've tried new cables, too.

This didn't happen with my Westell 327W.

I'm no techie, I don't know how to do this stuff.

Please help me!

Thanks much,

Brian

Sorry you are having this problem, hopefully it can be resolved.

Have you by chance contacted your ISP?  You may have a faulty router, the problem you are facing is most likely not on Microsoft's side.  Contacting your ISP would be the best idea.

I had the exact same problem.  After several frustrating hours , I called my ISP and got nowhere with them.  But when I turned on the xbox it magically connected.  I don't know if the call did any good or if waiting 4 hours after connecting to the westell did the trick.  I also had enabled the UPnP on the westell.  After I connected I had a Moderate NAT, so I went into the firewall setting> port forwarding and set the"xbox live" pre-configuration to my xbox and then turned off UPnP.

Okay, so I type in the 198.68.1.1 to get to my control panel, where do I enable the UPnP?

Nevermind. I clicked around until I found it. Unfortunately it already is enabled.

Anything else I can try?

UPnP will only help you if the router lights up the port that the cable is plugged into. If it's not lighting up that means no power is being sent across the network cable. If you xbox worked on a dif router before this one (recently is also important) then this one may not work hardwired.  UPnP only fixes things once the xbox is able to obtain an IP and see the router though.
