My Xbox 360 can't connect to a wired network.

When I try an Xbox Live connection test, it says it can't connect to my wired network because it can't obtain an IP address. I've tried setting it to automatically detect IP, and I've tried manually inputting my IP, and neither of these helped at all.

Hey mate, is it throwing up any kind of error code?

-

What you can try is setting a static IP address so the router isn't giving it one following the steps here: portforward.com/.../staticip-xbox360.htm

-

If you do run into issues with that you can always reset the factory network defaults like by going to System Settings>Network Settings>Choose Network>Additional Settings>Restore factory Defaults

-

Also I know this may sound silly, but make sure you Ethernet cable is plugged in correctly in the router and not in the WAN port instead of the LAN port.

Have you tried a different cord if available?  There could be an issue with the one you are using.
