My wired connection wont work to my 360

My xbox 360 (slim 250), wont connect to any of the lan ports on the back of my Zyxel VSG-1432 gateway.  My laptop connects fine on each of them.  It fails its connection test everytime saying it failed to assign an ip number to it.  Ive tried everything, resetting router defaults, power cycling with the pin reset, unplugging the router, clearing xbox cache, mac filtering, static ip, dmz, port forwarding, renewing the ip lease, you name it.  Nada is my result.  Also, my ps3 wont pass its auto test function (times out it says), but when I go through manual and select auto for each of its question's answers, it passes its test.  But the ps3 shows up in the device list for my router but vanishes after a few seconds (connection still works though).  The 360 doesnt show in the list at all.  Myself and the techs have gotten the test to work briefly a few times but it fails to login in again when you restart the system.  The wireless works flawlessly though for each on the router.  A, I doing something wrong?  Bad cables? Bad luck?  Im at my wit's end here. :)  Any ideas or input at this point would be very appreciated.

I can post settings for you guys if you wish to see them.  Just ask.

Peter

Also: when i set my laptop to wireless then select properties and click on sharing the device's connection, and run an ethernet cable from the laptop ethernet port to the 360's ethernet port, then run the wired network connection test, it works.

Have you reset the console to its defaults? Tried a different ethernet cord?

First off go to the Network Settings on the console and select Configure Network at the top. Move over to the Additional Settings and select Restore Factory Defaults then click Yes. After it gets done try to retest it and see if the network will pass and give the console an IP Address.

If that does not work try a different cord.

Just a note, when you plug the cable in, you need to reset your modem or the xbox wont read it.

Plug it in, shut off your modem for 30 seconds and power it up again.

No 3 different cords and zilch.  Also tried it on a provider called Syban (high speed through a local tower to an antenna the setup at your house) at a friend and it worked every time.  Just a little befuddled that telus doesnt seem to want to admit it might be them.

Hey there Killiam!

Could you verify if you can connect properly by connecting the Xbox to your wireless netowork. And i don't mean going through your computers internet sharing.

Are you sure you are connecting to the right Ethernet port on your router. These ports are often marked with numbers e.g. 1,2,3,4 etc.

Very odd, can you ask your tech support guys whether there is a firmware update available for your router?
