To add onto Daft's answer, the disc is needed in order to confirm you own the installed game. The good news is the disk isn't used on installed games when disk games are playing so you do not hear that loud noise coming from the disk player. The only way
to play games without a disk is to buy the "Games on Demand" version of the game. To see if your game is on the list click the following link: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-CA/Games/GamesOnDemand
