My controller stopped working

My controller stopped working today while I was playing a game. I changed the batteries to some new ones and it still wouldn't work and I've tried reconfiguring it to my xbox slim but that hasn't worked either. When i press the xbox button in the middle of the controller nothing happens at all whereas most of the time when the batteries are low it will turn on for a second before turning off and the controller also turned off without the indicating that the batteries are low. If someone knows what is wrong with my pad and how I can fix it could you please let me know, thanks!

Mine is doing the same thing.  I even have my connected using the plug and play cord and it doesn't recognize it.  My xbox is the slim, has worked perfectly since we bought it 6 months ago.

Greetings, Ssnnaaaakkee and Izzy (lots of double letters up in here!). Very sorry you're having trouble getting your controllers working. Do you have the option to try using them on a different console? I'd be interested to know if the problem reproduces while connected to a different Xbox. You should also visit this page and make sure you try all of the troubleshooting steps offered: support.xbox.com/.../controllers-remotes. Please keep me posted as to whether this helps resolve the problem. I'm here if you have any further questions.

I've tried the troubleshooting that applies to the wireless controller but nothing happens. The problem isn't that it won't connect to my xbox, it's that the controller wont turn on at all or do anything even though I've tried everything i can. I can't try it on a different xbox because the controller won't turn on and also I don't have friends close by that have an xbox (they all live quite far away or play crappy ps3's ha) I bought the xbox in late October/early November, will it still be under warranty?

Is the battery compartment loose?  I've heard this issue before and it turned out to be a loose battery compartment that was causing the issue.  It should be a snug fit or the batteries will not make a proper connection causing the issue you describe.

All right.  I know this one is going to try your patience but can you check the batteries and make sure you didn't put them in backwards?

Greetings again, Ssnnaaaakkee. Please go ahead and try what onyx is asking about the batteries. I'll admit that I have done that myself, and you never know when human error will strike again!

To answer your question, you can check your warranty status here: myservice.xbox.com/.../WhyRegister.aspx. Although I can't imagine the controller issue points to a problem with the console. Keep me posted!

Any updates cause halo controller just started or should I say stopped. Don't really feel like shelling out another $60 if I dont have to.
